The management of a housing trust completed a series of one day training workshops as part of a six month structured management development programme. At the end of the programme the team completed a two-day charity challenge.
In the 2 days the team sourced their own challenge, obtained an outdoor chess set for a YMCA facility, commissioned and paid for the garden of a day care centre for the elderly to be completely re-designed and landscaped. The scheme included water features, paved areas, plants, garden furniture and a pergola. The team sourced a garden designer and landscaper to take on the project and by the end of day 2 outline plans were drawn up and a start date for the work agreed with the centre manager. A local radio station broadcast appeals for help from the group and updates on their progress. The local press attended the opening ceremony. All was achieved on a budget of £10.00!
